feedback, at www.aldiconsultation.co.uk/castledouglas which will go live on Friday 7th January 2022.
To coincide with the online consultation, Aldi will be hosting two Live Chat Sessions via the project website between 5pm and 7pm on Monday 17th January and 4pm and 6pm on Wednesday 19th January 2022.
Representatives of Aldi and their advisers will be available to answer any queries and receive valuable feedback from members of the public in real time. The opportunity for members of the public to provide feedback will remain open until 23rd January 2022.
Following the consultation period, Aldi hope to lodge a planning application with Dumfries & Galloway Council in early February, with a new store welcoming shoppers ahead of Christmas 2023, subject to planning.
A Spokesperson for Aldi UK told DGWGO Business News “The proposed store will deliver a 1,881 sqm food store, 1,315 sqm sales floor, with 100 parking bays (inc. 7 disabled).

The proposals would deliver a new, modern food store development to serve residents living within Castle Douglas, improving the range and quality of shopping provision within the local area. The proposals would introduce a brand-new discount store to Castle Douglas, reducing the need for customers to travel substantial distances outwith the local area and will provide the community with access to Aldi’s high-quality offer and award-winning low prices.

The development would also bring significant investment and up to 35 new jobs to the local area, both during construction and once operating, with Aldi preferring that store staff are generally recruited from the local area.

The proposals are at an early stage and no planning application has been submitted to Dumfries & Galloway Council. Aldi would like to hear your views about our ambitions for a new store in Castle Douglas, which could open as early as Christmas 2023.

If consented, the new store would bring a significant investment of around £6.3 million into the local area.”
