Dumfries and Galloway’s creativity is celebrated at annual regional arts conference – CONNECTIONS

Creative practitioners from across Scotland gathered at the Theatre Royal in Dumfries on Wednesday 31 August for CONNECTIONS, DG Unlimited’s annual arts conference – the must-attend event for anyone with an interest in community and cultural activities in
Dumfries and Galloway.

Now in its third year, the 2016 conference was packed with a programme of talks, workshops and activities covering a host of topics; from marketing and fundraising, to licensing and professional development.

Julia Amour, Director, Festivals Edinburgh delivered the keynote speech.

The day started with a ‘marketplace’ of stands from the region’s leading cultural providers and a funder’s breakfast where delegates had the opportunity to participate in informal conversations with representatives of funders such as Creative Scotland and The Robertson Trust and LEADER.

Open to both members and non-members of DG Unlimited, the conference targeted a range of audiences, including event producers, community companies, venues, artists, makers, photographers, community council representatives and local media.

David McDonald, newly appointed Regional Arts Development Director for DGU said: “We had a packed programme of activity planned for this year’s conference, and we hope delegates have found it useful and informative and that it has provided an insight into good  practice and inspirational ideas that are sure to benefit those working in the cultural sector in Dumfries and Galloway.
