A new chapter begins for hearing care in Dumfries with an independent family-owned audiology centre now open at The Crichton, Dumfries
Hearing care in Dumfries has entered a new chapter with the arrival of Almond Hearing at Galloway House, The Crichton.
The family-owned independent clinic has taken over the long-established Castle Hearing Centre, where audiologists Iain and Frazer have been familiar faces to local clients for many years.

Almond Hearing was founded in 2020 by husband-and-wife team Frazer Paterson and Susie Darroch Paterson. Since then, the company has established clinics in West Lothian, East Renfrewshire and Dundee, building a reputation for independent, clinically-led care. During this time Frazer has also been consulting in Dumfries with Castle Hearing, a role that has now evolved into ownership alongside colleague Iain, bringing the clinic into the Almond Hearing group.
The two audiologists, now directors together with Susie, bring a wealth of clinical experience from both the NHS and private sector. Their decision to establish Almond Hearing in Dumfries reflects a commitment to continuity, ensuring clients are seen by the same professionals they already know, now within a modern and welcoming setting.
The new clinic represents more than a change of address. Alongside hearing assessments, hearing aid trials, wax removal and noise protection, Almond Hearing has introduced a dedicated tinnitus service. This addition underlines the clinic’s focus on specialist expertise and long-term support for those living with complex hearing conditions.
At the heart of the service is the belief that hearing care does not end when a device is fitted. Ongoing aftercare, reviews and adjustments are integral to Almond Hearing’s approach, offering reassurance that clients will continue to be supported in the months and years ahead.
Clients arriving at Galloway House are welcomed by Leanne and Karen, who lead the front of house team. Both are known for their approachable manner and attention to detail, ensuring each visit runs smoothly from the moment clients step through the door.

Importantly, warranties and service agreements from Castle Hearing remain in place, reflecting Almond Hearing’s respect for the past while looking ahead to the future.
For the people of Dumfries and Galloway, this transition means continuity of trusted care, enhanced by new facilities and expanded services.
