The 2017 Scottish Rural Awards nominations open this week, which means once again a fantastic opportunity to get Dumfries and Galloway businesses on the map.
Back in the 2016 awards D&G business including Sheena Horner’s Galloway Chillies, and Stranraer-based Loch Ryan Oyster Fishery Company both won a Highly Commended awards as did Langholm Initiative’s Making The Most of Moorlands Project, and this year there is a chance to nominate more D&G based businesses.
The awards have been running for three years and now include 12 categories , including the coveted Rural Hero award, which DGWGO’s very own RB was nominated for last year, which lead to Scottish Field magazine running an article on him and DGWGO. This award recognises those who contribute to their rural community by going above and beyond the call of duty.
The Scottish Rural Awards, partnered by Scottish Field magazine and the Scottish Countryside Alliance, are the ultimate benchmark of excellence in rural Scotland. Celebrating the true industry, innovation, dedication and community spirit of those who live and work in our wonderful countryside, the Scottish Rural Awards culminates with a black tie awards ceremony and gala dinner, which will take place at the end of March 2017.
Nominations for the 2017 Scottish Rural Awards are NOW OPEN – so if you know an outstanding rural business in D&G or someone who really goes that extra mile in our community, make sure they receive the recognition they deserve.
Anyone can nominate a business, either by self-nomination, or by nominating someone else, into one of the 10 open categories. The only exception to this is the Rural Hero category, which is not open to self-nominations. The Lifetime Achievement category is the only category which is closed to nominations.
