TOP AWARD FOR LOCAL ‘CHRISTMAS TREE’ BUSINESS

A Dumfries and Galloway Christmas tree business based near Kirkgunzeon has won a National Competition .

Scottish Christmas Trees has been growing container grown and cut Christmas Trees since 1999. Each year they send out thousands of trees nationwide and also sell direct from the farm gate.

They recently travelled to the British Christmas Tree Growers Association annual tree competition held at Gower Fresh Christmas Tree Farm in South Wales with a 4ft container grown Norway Spruce.

The event was attended by over 200 growers from all over the UK and Europe. Any UK grown Christmas Tree can be entered into the various categories with the grower of the overall champion tree being given the honour of supplying the tree that stands outside No 10 Downing Street.

The container grown Norway Spruce produced by Scottish Christmas Trees was named ‘Best Living Container Grown Tree in the UK for 2016’ with the award being presented to Scottish Christmas Trees owner  ‘Rory Young’  by the Secretary of State for Wales Alun Cairns.

All the staff at Scottish Christmas trees work hard all year round to produce a quality product in a sustainable, environmentally-friendly fashion. Despite the onset of their extremely busy harvest period the staff took time out to celebrate their significant achievement .
