Use Dumfries & Galloway Trusted Trader Scheme for Peace of Mind

If you’re struggling to find a trader to carry out repair or home improvement works, why not choose a trader you can trust?

If you don’t know of a reliable trader, asking friends or relatives for their opinion is a good first step. However, when this does not work, the alternative is often looking through the phone book, searching online or checking the local paper. The problem is that anyone can pay for a professional looking advert or leaflets, even rogue traders. Unfortunately, cowboy traders cause misery and disruption to thousands of people’s lives every year.

Dumfries & Galloway Trusted Trader is a scheme run by Trading Standards and supported by Police Scotland, which allows you to find a reputable local trader who has been assessed by Trading Standards to ensure that they are trading fairly and legally. The scheme is a local business partnership aimed at increasing consumer confidence, promoting good practice within local small business, and helping protect citizens from doorstep crime.

The Scheme currently has over 160 members based throughout Dumfries and Galloway and who operate across all areas of the home improvement sector, from gardening to building and everything in-between. Members agree to comply with the terms and conditions of the Scheme, which keeps them trading legally and ensures a high level of customer service.

As well as knowing that the businesses are abiding by the terms and conditions, you can also view feedback left by previous customers on the Trusted Trader website. In doing this, you’ll know exactly what a trader’s previous customers think of them – this feedback is verified by an independent third-party and we publish the good and the bad comments!

Using a Trusted Trader takes the guesswork out of finding someone to carry out your repairs and will hopefully put your mind at rest about letting someone into your home.
