4 Dumfries Academy Teachers Get Set To Run Garden Marathons for NHS

In an attempt to raise money for NHS charities, four workmates are getting together to run a marathon relay without leaving their own gardens.

All teachers at Dumfries Academy, the team of Stephen Belford, Morag Kell, Geoff Leonard, and Will Nicholson will be using a treadmill or doing laps of their own garden to run a cumulative distance of 42.2 kilometres (26.2 miles) – 10.55 kilometres each.

Fellow workmate Leah McLardie will also be running the distance as a reserve – she will be completing this outside of her own home so her distance will only count in the event of illness or injury to any of the team.

The event will start at 10 am on Friday 17 April with their efforts being shown live on Facebook – https://www.facebook.com/events/261878568274329/

The marathon relay is expected to finish at around 2 pm.
