Alex Takes on the 3 Peaks Challenge to Fund Young Cardiac Screenings

Left -Right: Alex and his brother David

In memory of David Hill who tragically passed away at just 30 years old in 2022, Alex Service, David’s brother, has taken up the inspiring “3 Peaks for David” challenge.

The primary objective of this remarkable endeavour is to raise funds for the David Hill Memorial Fund, which is dedicated to funding cardiac screenings for young people aged 14-35 in Dumfries and Galloway.

The David Hill Memorial Fund, established by the Hill family and CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young), aims to reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death by supporting CRY’s cardiac screening program.

Affordable Screening for Vital Diagnosis: One in 300 Young Individuals at Risk

This program has shown that one in every 300 young individuals screened by CRY is identified with a potentially life-threatening condition. Remarkably, each cardiac screening costs just £60, making it an accessible means to detect and prevent such conditions.

The “3 Peaks for David” challenge involves conquering Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike, and Snowdon, all within 24 hours, including travel. Supported by a dedicated climbing team and a support team stationed at the base of each mountain, Alex will undertake this arduous journey, entirely self-funded, with all proceeds raised going towards the David Hill Memorial Fund.
