Applications Open for Positions on new Board of Trustees For Whithorn Trust

Are you passionately interested in Scottish history and archaeology?
Would you like to contribute to a high-profile heritageled regeneration project in SW Scotland?

Whithorn is one of the most important Early Medieval sites in the country, with evidence of
Christian occupation from as early as the 5th Century; the Whithorn archaeological archive,
resulting from several campaigns of excavation, is nationally significant.

The Whithorn Trust, an independent charity based in Whithorn, Dumfries and Galloway, is
custodian of this important site and is seeking to appoint a new Board of Trustees to guide it through the exciting changes planned for its museum and visitor experience.

We are seeking up to eight people from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences who
can help us deliver our vision and our commitment to inclusion.

We welcome those with a variety of professional skills; we also value our connection with
the local community and will give special attention to candidates who have strong networks
within it. Applications from people with protected characteristics under the Equality Act
2010 are particularly welcome. All applications will be considered. While skills are
important, an undertaking to be actively involved and contribute to the delivery of our aims
with time, energy and commitment is equally important. Trustee induction training will be
offered.

The board meets six times a year including the AGM. Meetings are held on weekdays in the
daytimes at the Whithorn Trust and reasonable travel costs to attend committee meetings
and other approved out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursable.
