Castle Douglas Journal Welcomes Community Programmes Co-Ordinator

Castle Douglas Development Forum has appointed Cressida Monlaur as their new Community Programmes co-ordinator.

Cressida has been appointed to a new role within Castle Douglas Development Forum (CDDF) and will be working on improving the Forum’s administration and communications, helping with events, and keeping track of our various projects by managing funding. Having moved to Dumfries and Galloway just over a decade ago, Cressida has previously raised over £100,000 for various local organisations including Dumfries and Galloway Arts Festival & Crossmichael Arts.

Carolyn Yates, CDDF Chairperson, says: “CDDF is very pleased to welcome Cressida to our team at this time of change, as we face the economic challenges Covid-19 has inflicted on charities”

Cressida has a background in fundraising and socio-anthropological research into small rural communities and the effects on young people living in ‘rural poverty’. Her interest in fund raising and the not-for-profit sector started early on after volunteering for charities such as The British Royal Legion, The British Red Cross, and several homegrown SCIOs/start-ups. During her career, Cressida has worked with and secured funds from trusts, foundations and governmental donors based in the UK and Europe.

Regarding her new role, Cressida says: “I gain enormous enjoyment and satisfaction helping to bring about positive change to the lives of the beneficiaries I represent, and I am passionate about upskilling the charities I work with by passing on my experience in various aspects of fundraising including grant writing, prospect research, donor cultivation, donor stewardship and diversifying income streams creating a legacy of future funding opportunities and success. I’m excited to get stuck in”

Since starting in her new role Cressida has focused on organising and applying for funding for Castle Douglas’ Inclusive Playpark.
