Annan The History Town Group Receives £1,000 Cheque for Summer Festival from Cunninghame Housing Association

Alan Somerville, Senior Development Officer of Cunninghame Housing Association recently presented a cheque for £1,000 to members of Annan The History Town Group.

Annan The History Town Group is an active community group promoting Annan as the history town. They continually seek to promote the town, emphasising their rich heritage. They want to improve the public realm and heritage interpretation within Annan. The Group have now been running for over 5 years and are now planning their third Summer Festival which will take place over July and August 2023.

The funding provided by Cunninghame Housing Association will assist towards the Groups three ‘Annan Through the Ages’, exhibitions which will form part of this year’s Summer Festival – demonstrating the following themes: Independent Grocers and Supermarkets, School Memories and Industries and Buildings.

Lesley Keenan, Chairperson of CHA commented, “We are delighted to be able to provide financial support to Annan The History Town Group’s Summer Festival. Following the success of previous years and the feedback they have received it has proven to become an important date in the calendar for the community, providing an enjoyable day for all whilst learning about the town’s rich heritage.” The funding for Annan The History Town Group came from the Association’s “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the allocated funding is exhausted.
