DCR Online is due to celebrate its second birthday next week. The station launched on the 26th October 2018.
Dumfries Community Radio (DCR) was founded by Graham Anderson and Fiona Jones (Main Image) and broadcasts music, promotes local events, groups and organisations; and reflects the latest news for the community of Dumfries & Galloway. Together with their trusted team of volunteers, they bring an eclectic mix of local and international music; talk shows about environmental and cultural issues, and topics about life which reflect Dumfries’s vibrant and ever-changing society.
Co-founder and Station Manager, Fiona Jones says, “Apart from the specialist shows which are presented live by our volunteers, all the music is hand-selected for its uniqueness and fits closely to our listeners views.”
Co-founder and Chairman, Graham Anderson said, “We have learned so much over the last two years. This year has been difficult for us all and once lockdown had been imposed it meant we had to change with it. Our volunteers became their own tech, production and presenting team by broadcasting remotely from home. We had to beg borrow and source equipment to allow our volunteers to carry on with their shows, but they have excelled and have kept producing high-quality informative shows”.
The DCR birthday celebration culminates with a two-hour special live broadcast on Sunday afternoon between 3-5pm with all presenters taking part.
