Emma’s Campaign Provides Defibrillators to 23 Schools in Dumfries & Surrounding Areas

Emma Currie has led an incredible campaign that raised over £33,000 to equip 23 primary schools in Dumfries and the surrounding areas with defibrillators. This initiative, fueled by Emma’s passion for community safety, gained momentum with the generous support of local organizations and individuals.

Key contributions included a £10,000 donation from Stealth Competitions and another £10,000 from Anne Armstrong of the Armstrong Angel Trust. These vital funds ensured not only the purchase of defibrillators but also a maintenance fund for replacement pads and batteries.

“When I started working at Cargenbridge Primary, I wanted to make a difference,” Emma shared. Her efforts were further supported by local experts, including the NHS Resuscitation team, and countless community members who joined the cause through social media and local fundraisers.

The campaign surpassed its initial target in just 22 days, providing every school with a defibrillator, along with CPR training for staff. “It’s amazing to know that these devices are now available to so many people. While we hope they’ll never need to be used, having them there could save lives,” Emma said.

Reflecting on the success, Emma added, “This is a legacy for our town—something we can all be proud of. The support from businesses, organizations, and individuals has been phenomenal.”

This achievement not only enhances safety in schools but also highlights the strength of a community united for a common goal.
