The Devil’s Porridge has been nominated for the Family Friendly Museum Award!

Nominations are now open for the Kids in Museums Family Friendly Museum Award 2019 and the Devil’s Porridge Museum at Eastriggs in Dumfries and Galloway has been nominated.

Charity Kids in Museums awards the prize annually to one museum, gallery, historic home or heritage site in the UK that goes the extra mile to provide a great experience for families. The prestigious award is now in its 14th year.

A spokesperson for the Museum stated “This is a brilliant opportunity for us to shout about what we are doing for families at The Devil’s Porridge Museum. We currently run after school and weekend activity sessions 5 days a week, covering Arts and Crafts, Let’s Bake, Young Curator’s History Club, Cartoon Workshop and our Saturday Morning Games Club. The Devil’s Porridge will also be starting 2 new book clubs for young people after the Easter holidays, with our Storytime book club on Wednesdays and Young readers book club on the first Saturday of each month. For more information please contact one of our Access and Learning Officers – [email protected] or [email protected]
If you would like to support us and share why you think The Devil’s Porridge Museum is great for families, please nominate us on the Kids in Museums website: www.kidsinmuseums.org.uk/awards
The deadline for nominations is noon on 31 May 2019.”

In June an expert panel will whittle down the nominations to a shortlist. Undercover family judges will then visit each shortlisted museum and assess them on how well they meet the Kids in Museums Manifesto. The winner will be revealed at an awards ceremony in October.
