Lockerbie Academy Aim To Raise £2000 To Help Children in Malawi

The African Link Committee at Lockerbie Academy is on a mission to raise £2,000 for the Lockerbie Academy Scholarship Programme.  This programme is currently funding the secondary education of over 60 pupils in Malawi.  Primary education is free in Malawi, but pupils have to pay to access secondary education.  The secondary school fees can be prohibitively expensive for the poorest families as the majority exist on less than $1 per day.

Lockerbie Academy Teacher Gillian Bone Said “All of the scholars participating in this programme come from Lockerbie Academy’s link primary school in Malawi called Thawale II Primary School. The education the scholars receive, thanks to the Scholarship Programme, has the potential to transform their lives and lift them out of poverty.
Usually the African Link Committee raise funds by holding coffee mornings and bake sales.  However, current Covid restrictions have made this impossible.  Due to this, we have had to move our efforts online to raise the funds to keep the Scholarship Programme running.
We would be extremely grateful for any donations on our Go Fund Me link to raise funds for the scholarship programme.  The link to our Go Fund Me page is as follows:  https://gofund.me/37a9ad0d
Every penny that we raise will go towards the tuition fees of the scholars.
It costs roughly £30 per year to educate a child in Malawi, so donations, big or small, will make a huge difference.  On behalf of the young person who may benefit from the donations, thank you – or as they say in Malawi – Zikomo!
