Loreburn Housing has again extended a ‘GREAT Big Thank You’ to tenants who have gone the extra mile for their neighbours and local community.
Tenants nominated were surprised with a visit and gift from their Neighbourhood Officer to say thank you for their community spirit and efforts over the last year.

“There’s been transformations of outdoor spaces to allow neighbours to come together and spend time outdoors and others have supported their neighbours in various ways from baking to a regular check in. This has been especially important for people who live alone”
Ronnie Patterson, who lives in Stranraer, has been working hard to transform and maintain the outside space at his development.
After being given a £50 Home & Gardens Voucher from Loreburn, he has re-painted the fence, external windowsills and parking bay lines, and has planted some flowerpots along the front of the block.
Mr. Patterson commented “It was a lovely surprise to receive this morning. Painting the communal areas gave me something to do and I enjoyed it. It’s really brightened the place up and makes it feel more like home.”
Janet Modrate, who also lives in Stranraer, has taken on an area of land next to her garden and has transformed it from bushes and weeds into a fruitful garden area where fresh produce and flowers grow year-round.
Mrs. Modrate was very touched, and surprised, by the gesture – saying that the thoroughly enjoys working in the garden which has been hailed as ‘a credit to the area’.
Lorraine Usher, Chief Executive at Loreburn, praised people’s spirit, penning a letter of thanks to all those nominated and commenting “In spite of many challenges, 2022 has again seen local heroes do some great work in their communities once again. They often don’t realise the positive impact they have, seeing it as just something they do.
Yet their actions make a difference. Our great big thank you is a small way of recognising their caring acts.”
