Stranraer Opticians Raises £1,100 To Buy Books For Local School Children

A STRANRAER primary school is set to benefit from hundreds of new books thanks to the support of a local Specsavers store.

The team at the George Street store raised £1,100 throughout 2022, enabling them to purchase hundreds of books, which cover every curriculum and age group for every class, at Sheuchan School.

To raise the money, the store hosted a number of raffles and in-store fundraising activities.

Elaine Hawthorn, store director of the store in Stranraer, says: ‘We have always understood the important role we play in our community and always strived for any opportunity to support local schools.
‘Through this donation, we hope we can support pupils at Sheuchan School in their learning as well as spurring on a passion for reading across youngsters in Stranraer.
‘We’d like to thank every customer who kindly helped us to reach this fantastic amount. It’s through their generosity that this was even possible.’
