The IT Centre, a charity in Castle Douglas, is appealing for unused devices which they will refurbish and pass on to others in the community.
They are able to accept donations of IT equipment from individuals and businesses. However, they are unable to accept printers, of any kind, or household electrical goods.

Can you guarantee that you will accept my donation?
The IT Centre reserves the right to refuse donations on grounds of suitability for the purpose of its business operations. There are some things that we are, unfortunately, unable to accept.
I’m not able to get to The IT Centre, can you collect donations?
We cannot collect any items at this time.
My equipment has personal data on it. Will this be removed before it is given to a project or passed on?
Yes, we will start the clearing processing without backing up any data, you are responsible for backing up any data you may wish to keep before donating your device as any data will not be recoverable after the overwrite process. We use a US Government Department of Defence approved algorithm to securely wipe any data from donated equipment – using the 5220.22-M (3 pass) protocol. This is 99.999% secure and ensures all data is destroyed and is non-retrievable. If you are concerned about your personal data then we are able to issue a ‘Secure Data log file on request. We can also apply a 7 pass protocol upon request.
Can I bring in a donation outside of the specified drop-off hours?
We are unable to take donations outside of the stated drop-off hours, which are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday by appointment only
My laptop is old/missing parts / has no battery / is not working – can you still accept it?
If your laptop is Windows 7 or newer then we can source spare parts in order to refurbish it. If it is in very bad condition or older than this, please email the make and model and a photo if possible to [email protected] and we will let you know if we’re able to accept it.
