The Stove Network in collaboration with Dumfries Partnership Action Group present the ‘Market of Possibility’.

Throughout July & August, the Market of Possibility will be taking over a former retail unit in the Loreburne Centre in Dumfries, offering a new and interactive space, where people can visit free of charge, get creative and share their visions for the future of Dumfries.

Rooted in the vibrant heartbeat of Dumfries, the Market of Possibility invites Dumfries locals, visitors, and tourists to delve into a world of grassroots campaigns, electrifying projects, and inspiring initiatives, all led by local people.

Martin O’Neill, Artistic Director at The Stove Network says of the project:

“The Market of Possibility is inspired by all the community-led initiatives The Stove has supported through our Open Hoose project over the last two years, as well as providing a platform for the innovative work happening with other town centre enterprises and initiatives. Part studio, part playground, part laboratory, the space will combine imagination and play in an immersive and thought-provoking space designed to ignite new ideas and nurture ambitions, ideas, and possibilities for the future of our town.”

Tony Fitzpatrick, Chair of Dumfries Partnership Action Group says of the project:

“Dumfries Partnership Action Group are so pleased to be engaging with The Stove Network on this project. Over the period of community engagement that led to the “Dynamically Different Dumfries Action Plan” it was clear that people and businesses were imagining a different kind of town centre looking to the future. This project, thanks to Big Lottery funding and our collaboration with The Stove Network, will help us get right behind just what that new town centre will look like.”

Referencing the towns history as the regions key market town, this new project is all about celebrating local innovation and creativity and will feature a plethora of creative workshops as well as interactive installations exhibits in partnership with some of the town’s most popular creative community groups. From music and creative writing, to drawing, activism, fashion and gardening, The Market of Possibility offers a chance for everyone to get involved, to play, explore, connect, and create.

The Market of Possibility will open on the 13th of July and will run until the end of August 2023.
