Volunteers will be Thanked! Even Though D&G VOscars Ceremony Cancelled Due to COVID-19

A week-long thank you to Dumfries and Galloway’s volunteers will take place from next Monday (June 1).

Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway (TSDG) will be paying tribute to the work of volunteers both during the COVID-19 crisis and every day across the region.

Traditionally, the marquee event is the VOscars ceremony, but this had to be cancelled due to the lockdown.

This will not stop the charity marking the efforts of all those willingly giving up their time to help others or make the region a better place.

Ann Gordon, TSDG Volunteering Officer, said: “The current health crisis has brought the importance of volunteers – especially in an area like Dumfries and Galloway – even more into the public eye.
“Our region depends on selfless people every day of the year in so many ways – not just in a crisis – that we want to showcase their fantastic work in their own special week.”

TSDG will feature volunteers and organisations across their online channels and any group wanting to take part can email [email protected] or contact them via social media at @thirdsectordg for more details.

The charity is also holding a children’s art competition with prizes on offer for the best A4 poster thanking volunteers for their work. Entries to this can be sent to the same email address or more information can be found on their Facebook page or website www.tsdg.org.uk.
