Heathhall Garden Centre & Jim Ferguson Of Annan & District Rotary Joined Together To Give A Once In A Lifetime Santa Experience To 19 Local Children Within Dumfries & Galloway Who Are Deaf & Hard Of Hearing
The roads were icy but the enormous white Limo donated to thrill the children by Excalibur Limmos Dumfries, appeared at Palmerston Arena Dumfries exactly at 10 am last Saturday the 25th of November to collect its first happy, excited and merry group of children on their first Dumfries & Galloway Deaf Childrens Society group outing.
The drive to Santa, sitting waiting for this lovely group of deaf and hard of hearing children lasted what seemed like seconds to all onboard but then Heathhall Garden Centre appeared from the trees.
The children marched into this beautiful wonderland of excitement to find Santa ready and waiting with his 2 elves Lily and Cerys by his side. With a large smile, wave and his favourite Ho Ho Ho !
The Children’s Day of Adventure was here! Santa and his Elves gave such wonderful Gifts all kindly donated by Jim & Maria Barr of Heathhall Garden Centre, to all 19 children from the D&G Deaf Children’s Society.
The children and their families enjoyed every second of their Santa Adventure to Heathhall Garden Centre with D&G Deaf Children’s Chairperson Angela Kirk commenting.
Jim Ferguson Of Annan & District Rotary said “We try to make our children’s events an inclusive day for all. Today with Santa at Heathhall Garden Centre, could not have been better. Thank you Jim & Maria Barr for your lovely gesture of such wonderful gifts to our children.”
Jim and Maria Barr were very happy and honoured to host this first D&G Deat Children’s event, they were very impressed with Jim Ferguson President of Annan & District Rotary Club learning BSL just for Santa and talking to the D&G Deaf and Hard of Hearing children.
The two outstanding teachers of BSL (British Sign Language) Julia Clark Kennedy of the Dumfries Sensory Impairment Team and Tracey Pagan with her patience and understanding. Allowed Jim to take on the BSL training course to help Santa. The course was thrilling and enjoyable due to both ladies support to Santa.
The excitement of all D&G Deaf Children’s Society group of children on meeting Santa was tremendous.
The day was magical for all children, family, friends, BSL trainers, Staff, Elves and SANTA
