Mourners and visitors to St Blanes Cemetery on the outskirts of Locharbriggs will see a cleaner and improved parking area on their next visits.
Parking bays that had been covered in mud, and overgrown verges, have all been cleaned and trimmed back, with the sandstone dyke power washed and free from moss and weeds.
Local lads Zye Rogerson and Stuart Turnbull are responsible for the clean-up.
The two guys wanted to clean the place after seeing how poor the parking was and how mourners at recent funerals were leaving with muddy shoes from the glaur that greeted them on entrance to the graveyard.
Two days’ work with spades, brushes, strimmer’s and power washers and the entrance to St Blanes along with the perimeter dyke had all been cleaned and looking more respectable.
John Caskie from Locharbriggs Community Centre viewed the area both before and after the guys went to work and praised them for the excellent job they’ve done is restoring the cemetery to its rightful appearance. John shared pictures and a report to the Locharbriggs Community Centre Facebook page, and other Facebook pages in the Community. These posts have seen hundreds of likes and many comments on the good work the guys have done, with many people whose relatives are interred at St Blanes saying ‘thank you’ for the improvements the boys have made.
Mourners arriving at St Blanes can now pay their respects to loved ones, and friends, without having to worry about parking on the road, or their vehicles and feet being covered in mud and debris.
Great job, Zye and Stuart.
Well done and thank you guys.
