40 YEAR OLD DUMFRIES BOBBY IS DOING HIS BIT TO ‘BEAT’ CANCER

After a health scare 12 months ago 40 year old Dumfries  based Police constable Jason Mitchell is currently in training to run the Edinburgh Marathon to raise Money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

At 0950 hours on Sunday 29 May 2016, 40 year old, Jason Mitchell, from Dumfries will take part in the Edinburgh Marathon to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Jason , a serving Police Constable with Police Service of Scotland, Dumfries and Galloway Division lives in Dumfries with his wife Lynn and 3 year old son Jake.

About 12 months ago Jason fell ill with Thyroid problems. At this time he under went tests to rule out lung disease and lung cancer. Although all clear it was one of the scariest few days of his life. Since then he has been battling Hypothyroid and depression, working hard to regain the fitness lost during his illness.
On 29.05.16 Jason will be running the Edinburgh Marathon to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, in memory of his wife Lynn’s late mother Evelyn and all their family, friends and colleagues who have lost loved ones to cancer.

Jason is following a strict training program designed to prepare him for the event. Training includes gradually increased distance runs, cycling, weight training and aerobic workouts.

Jason’s training partner is the families 4 year old German Shepherd dog Simba who loves pounding the streets along side Jason.

To compete in the Marathon on behalf of Macmillan, Jason MUST raise a minimum of £750.

Even the smallest donation will go along way to taking Macmillan a step closer to helping those effected by this horrible disease.
