Police Concern Grows Over Increase In Anti-Social Behaviour In Stranraer

Over the last four to six weeks Police in Stranraer have noticed an increase in the instances of anti-social behaviour (ASB) committed by young people in the Stranraer area.

Community Officer Constable Clark Logie states. “There is currently a group of between 20 and 30 young people congregating at weekends at various locations throughout Stranraer, including the wooded area to the west of King George V Park, Agnew Park and the area to the north of Broadstone Road. A number of these young people are meeting up with the intention obtaining and consuming alcohol.”

The Police are asking parents to think about where their children are going when they go out in the evening.

A police spokesperson said “Are you aware if they are hanging around in large groups, are you aware of them smelling of alcohol when they come home?”

If anyone witnesses a large group of youths consuming alcohol, then please report the matter to the police by phoning 101 and officers will attend.
