DESPICABLE THIEF TOOK £1500 IN RAID ON 90 YEAR OLD EASTRIGGS WOMAN’S HOME

Housebreaking – Eastriggs

Police Scotland is investigating what they describe as a “despicable crime” after the home of a 90 year old woman was broken into in the early hours of Wednesday 6 May 2015 in Annan Road in Eastriggs. The elderly woman was awoken at around 0045 hours by her dogs barking and discovered an intruder in her house. The woman managed to get out of bed and the intruder fled the house, but not before stealing over £1500 worth of jewellery. The jewellery consists of a china musical box which contained an engagement ring, and some gold and silver chains.

Detective Constable Scott Barr of Police Scotland said “this is one of the worst types of crime that we have to investigate where an elderly lady, in bed in her own home, has her house broken into and has to confront the intruder. Despite this frightening experience the lady has provided us with a fairly good description of the intruder. He is described as being about 5’7″ to 5’9″ tall, is of stocky build and was wearing a dark zipper/windstopper type jacket with a flash of red on the chest and had a hood which came down over the face of the intruder, black trousers and black footwear. We are appealing to anyone who can help us catch this man to get in touch with Police Scotland at Annan on 101.”
