Chance to Give Your Views On Kirkconnel Public Realm Improvements Project

Dumfries and Galloway Council recognises that the regeneration of certain areas within our region is key to building the local economy: creating employment opportunities, improved transport links, housing and building on existing local heritage to create attractive spaces for the local community and visitors alike.

The Kirkconnel and Kelloholm Community Action Plan 2014 – 2019 sets out a vision for the future of Kirkconnel and Kelloholm, building on the distinctive heritage of the past, whilst recognising the needs and aspirations of the future. The Action Plan has been guided by a local steering group which brought together representatives from a wide range of local community and voluntary groups. It details a number of main strategies and priorities across a range of themes, one of which is focused around Community Facilities, Activities and Events.

The overall aim of these proposals is to improve the public realm of Kirkconnel’s main street and provide a strong identity for the village. We have created a few designs as a starting point and would like to know what the people who live and work in the area, think about them.

We are holding a drop in session on Tuesday 12th December, from 11am – 6pm in the Miners Memorial Hall. Why not pop in and have a chat and a cuppa – we’d love to hear your views on the proposals for your town.
