LOCAL POLICE TO HOLD SECOND PUBLIC WEB-CHAT EVENING ON FACEBOOK

FACEBOOK WEB-CHAT EVENING

Dumfries Galloway Police Division

D&G Police Division are  holding a second Web-Chat evening on Thursday 20 March 2014, between 1800 hours and 2000 hours.  The first Web-Chat evening, held on their Facebook page was on the subject of drugs and alcohol.  The second one will concentrate on answering questions in areas around:-

 

Bogus Callers 
Current Frauds and Scams 
Anti Social Behaviour 
Crime Prevention 
Personal Safety 
Localised Alcohol and Drug Issues 

 

Constable Derek Hughes of the Dumfries Community Policing Team says “officers from the Community Safety Team will be joined by Trading Standards officers to address a wide range of issues that commonly come to our attention. We hope to provide pertinent and reliable information to members of the public within Dumfries and Galloway on a range of topics which might be concerning them, or someone they know. I will be completing this web-chat with trained professionals from our partners in Trading Standards.

 

“You can ask us anything and we will endeavour to answer and provide that person with information that will help them resolve an issue, or signpost them to those that might be able to help further. This information will be confidential and where appropriate it can be anonymous.

 

“We realise on some occasions that some people may feel intimidated on speaking to the police or other agencies, this facility allows members of the public to ask any question and receive answers without any embarrassment and or potential retribution.”
