OBJECT RECKLESSLY THROWN FROM LOCKERBIE MOTORWAY BRIDGE CAUSES DAMAGE TO PASSING CAR

Reckless conduct – Lockerbie

Police Scotland is investigating an act of reckless conduct whereby an object was thrown from a motorway overbridge striking and damaging a car passing underneath. The incident happened at around 1430 hours on Sunday 11 October 2015 on an overbridge across the M74 between junctions 17 and 1 at Lockerbie. As a result a passing Audi A6 car was struck and the windscreen cracked extensively. No-one was injured. The value of the damage is estimated at around £350.

Constable Jordan Kerr of Police Scotland at Lockerbie said “this was and act of utter recklessness and the consequences could have been catastrophic. We are very lucky that we are not dealing with serious injury here and I would urge anyone who may have any information which may help us catch those responsible to call me at Lockerbie on 101.”
