Award Winning Dumfries International Street Food Festival Set To Return This August

Following a very successful event last June which was run under the auspices of Massive Outpouring of Love (MOOL), Dumfries International Street Food Festival – Disffest is now set up as an independent enterprise and we are really looking forward to bringing the festival back to Dock Park in Dumfries on 19th August 2023.

Last year’s event attracted thousands to Dock Park to enjoy street food from many different cultures and backgrounds along with music, yoga and dance.  We were absolutely delighted to win the Best Small Festival in Scotland this April.  This year we want the festival to be even bigger and more welcoming, celebrating the richness and diversity which different cultures bring to our society.

Jay Rubinstein, founder of DISFFEST said, “Last year was a fantastic event which was far better than our expectations.  I’m absolutely delighted that thanks to the National Lottery Community Fund Scotland we are going to be able to bring it back this year.”

We want people from as many different backgrounds as possible to get involved to showcase their culture and cuisine.  We are setting up training in food preparation and safety for those who might be uncertain of the requirements and we’ll also pay for certification which could help those who want to explore the possibilities of a career in food.  Finally, we are hoping to be able to hire equipment for use on the day.  So, if you feel that you have a particular food tradition that you’d like to help others enjoy then please email [email protected].
