LOCAL PIE MAKERS EARN THEIR CRUST AT WORLD SCOTCH PIE CHAMPIONSHIP

 

Dumfries and Galloway was very well represented yesterday 13th of January 2016 at the 17th World Scotch Pie Championship. Over 500 products were entered this year by nearly 100 of the nation’s best butchers and bakers.Judged by 50 experts, and football legend Jim Leishman.

-Massive Congratulations to The Little Bakery Dumfries on winning the Best SPFL Scotch pie ( at Queen of the South F.C. ) and also winning a silver for their Steak and Guinness pie enriched with tasty gravy, a gold award for their quiche in the vegetarian savoury section, a silver award for their sausage roll, and a silver for their Barlochan Highland Beef in Port & Stilton hot savoury.

What a brilliant food ambassador for our region.

Also winning awards at the championships were T.H Carson Butchers from Dalbeattie with bronze in the steak pie section, DH Robertson of Dumfries with bronze in the Scotch pies, a gold for J.B Houston, Quality Butchers of Dumfries for their Haggis Pastie, Mogerleys Quality Butchers of Dumfries took a Silver with their Vegetarian Haggis and Potato Pie and finaly a gold for John Gillespie & Sons of Stranraer for their Bridie.

Dumfries and Galloway really does have a lot to be proud of, well done to each and every one of you from ‪#‎DGWGO‬.
