September is Glenkens Food Month 2022

This Friday marks the start of the Glenkens Food Month, kicking off the start of a busy month celebrating the local food producers and businesses of the Glenkens.  There’s something for everyone throughout September, from themed nights in local eateries,  talks and film screenings about the land we live and grow in, seed swaps, cooking demonstrations, a pudding fan club, a ceilidh, outdoor cooking and much more! It starts on Friday 2nd September with a ‘Meet the Producers’ event at New Galloway Town Hall and goes all the way through to the final Ken Bridge Bicentennial celebrations on the 25th September.

The annual Glenkens Food Month is always a fantastic partnership of local organisations and businesses and this year is no different. So many people have joined in to make this a month to really celebrate the very special food and drink of the Glenkens. This year’s Food Month is being co-ordinated by GCAT’s Connecting in Communities team in collaboration with Propagate, after it was started in 2019 very successfully by New Galloway Community Enterprises.

Thanks must also be given to the funders of the Glenkens Food Month: the Blackcraig wind farm Community Benefit fund, through the Glenkens & District Trust and Foundation Scotland, the Galloway Glens Landscape Partnership, and the Third Sector Dumfries and Galloway administered fund, who have enabled us to put on many of the community activities for free or subsidised.

The full programme of events can be downloaded from www. gcat.scot/event/glenkens-food-month or www.propagate.org.uk/glenkens-food-month, or you can follow event updates via Facebook @GlenkensFoodMonth

So have a look at the Programme and we hope you enjoy!
