The Blue Bell Inn, Annan Winner – Dumfries & Stewartry Real Cider Pub of the Year 2017

The Blue Bell Inn, Annan is a former Coaching Inn and always offers friendly welcome. With 4 cask ales the busy pub has won area pub of the year on several occasions and has now won the CAMRA award for ‘Dumfries & Stewartry Real Cider Pub of the Year 2017.

Spokesperson for the local CAMRA group, Alan Gass explains “There’s only a handful of local pubs selling real cider in our area and we hope to encourage more and promote healthy competition to win awards in our annual competition.” Following discussions at a recent meeting of the local branch, the following pub was selected for our first ever Real Cider award:

Winner –  Dumfries & Stewartry Real Cider Pub of the Year 2017:

The Blue Bell went into further heats to find CAMRA`s National Cider Pub of the Year 2017, and was awarded a certificate as one of two runners-up in Scotland.

The Scottish Real Cider Pub of the Year 2017 is The Pitcairngreen Inn in Tayside Region.

Alan Gass added: “Any publican providing real cider either from the cask or bag in the box is committed to a great deal of hard work, care and attention, to provide a great product which proves very popular with both locals and tourists.” Real Cider may also be supplied bottle conditioned.
“Anyone with an interest in real cider or real ale is encouraged to join us at our various events and play a part in local activities by simply joining CAMRA”

Dumfries & Stewartry Overall Winner and Scottish Runners-up presentations will take place during the annual May Cider festival at the Blue Bell Inn, Annan on Sunday 28th May 2017.

The Blue Bell has a wonderful courtyard to the rear providing a pleasant seating area in the summer and holds an annual Beer Festival on the last bank holiday weekend in August
