‘Blackburns’ The Name For Quality Hair & Beauty Treatments in D&G

Castle Douglas  man ‘Wayne Blackburn’ started Blackburns Hair Salon in November 2011 after buying out what was formally Hallidays in Newton Stewart, where he’d managed and directed for 10 years, and now he has opened his second Salon in Dumfries and Galloway in his home town of Castle Douglas.
Wayne a family man, married to his wife  Gemma, they have 3 kids  Logan aged  7 , Coby aged 5 and  Ayla aged 2 , started his career in the industry as a junior in the summer of 1989 when he was still at Castle Douglas High School. He left school a year later and started full time at what was then ‘Hallidays’ where he worked for a year before heading to Hallidays salon in Kirkcudbright to do a two year YTS course ( Youth  Training Scheme). Wayne said “In those days you really started at the bottom, doing a bit of everything, even cleaning skirting boards with a tooth brush.” Whilst doing his YTS training he also attended D&G ‘Tech’. Once qualified Wayne  started working back in ‘Hallidays’ Castle Douglas salon, this is when he started to build a name for himself and build his regular clientele.
10 Years  later in 2000 ‘Maurice Halliday’, the salon chain owner then made Wayne Manager of their new Newton Stewart salon. Wayne threw himself  into the job and built one of the region’s top reputations in the business, until eventually he bought the salon, changed the name to ‘Blackburns’ and put his own stamp and style on things. Gradually over the next few years Wayne steadily grew and developed his own brand and built a fantastic team of staff around him.
There have been further developments recently, Blackburns have expanded & bought what was  ‘Prana Hair & Beauty’ on King Street , Castle Douglas which was the original ‘Hallidays’ salon that Wayne started working in all those years back as a school boy. Now named  ‘Blackburns Hair & Beauty’ Wayne and his team will provide the same high quality service supplied with a professional, enthusiastic and creative approach to every customer.
Wayne said” The time seemed right to come back ‘home’. After I had a conversation with the owners of Prana, I realised there was an opportunity for me to go full circle and become the owner of where I started my career! The heart strings pulled a bit but my business head took over and Gemma and I as a family analysed things and decided it would be good to get back to my roots”.
Wayne and his team from both of his Blackburns Hair & Beauty salons believe in  offering their clients a quality and professional yet affordable service. They always provide a warm welcome to old & new clients. Working closely with Wella the worlds number one professional brand & market leader GHD they hope to expand on the fantastic business that was Prana Hair & Beauty with lots of new innovative promotional ideas and a completely new pricing structure.
Wayne said “We hope to repay loyalty from our customers and  also reach out to potential new clients, with a team of 18  hair stylists , beauty therapists & make up artists at the two salons we are now proud to be  Dumfries and Galloway’s largest salon group. If you’re looking for a welcoming and friendly environment to have your hair or beauty treatments done look no further.”
