Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust brings BAFTA-winning CBeebies duo to Dumfries

The enchanting world of CBeebies’ hit animated series Sarah & Duck will be brought to life on stage for the first time this Spring during a UK tour and the production will visit Dumfries at the invitation of The Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust.

Featuring a host of wonderful characters from the BAFTA Award-winning show, embarking on a brand new adventure, Sarah & Duck’s Big Top Birthday will play at Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries on Monday 26th June at 4.30pm.

Join Sarah and Duck, along with all their favourite friends including The Ribbon Sisters, The Shallots, John and Flamingo and Umbrella, as they plan a circus-themed birthday party for Scarf Lady in their garden. But when the weather turns windy and the big top is blown away, will Sarah and Duck be able to save the day? Told through a fantastic blend of inventive puppetry, charming storytelling and toe-tapping music, Sarah & Duck’s Big Top Birthday will take families and children on a magical theatrical adventure.

Following the gentle adventures of a wide-eyed, 7-year-old girl and her feathered best friend, Sarah & Duck has been a huge hit since its debut in 2013, winning a BAFTA for ‘Best Pre-School Animation’ in 2014 and regularly appearing in CBeebies’ Top Ten programmes for viewers aged 4-15. Now in its third series, it is shown in over 100 counties around the world.

Sarah & Duck’s Big Top Birthday is written by Peter Glanville, artistic director of Polka Theatre. It is directed by Roman Stefanski with set and puppet design by Laura McEwen. It is presented by MEI Theatrical in association with Polka Theatre. Sarah & Duck is a Karrot Entertainment production for CBeebies UK and BBC Worldwide

Cathy Agnew, Project Director for the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust said: “We are really excited to be able to bring such a high quality children’s live theatre experience to young people in Dumfries this June. Our aim is to inspire the next generation of children through storytelling and imagination – and encouraging a love of theatre is at the heart of our vision.
“It is fantastic to already be able to share opportunities to see new live performances as we build up to opening the new National Centre for Children’s Literature and Storytelling at Moat Brae next year.  Bringing a UK tour of this calibre to the youngest people in our region is a great way to spark their interest from the very beginning and we hope they will continue to join us on the new adventures at Moat Brae as they grow up here in Dumfries & Galloway.”

Adam Balchin, Stage Manager at Easterbrook Live said: “We are very excited for Sarah and Duck to come to Dumfries with the Peter Pan Moat Brae Trust, this is an excellent show and it is great to see children’s theatre of this level in the region, we are looking forward to welcoming this younger crowd to Easterbrook Hall!”
