‘BBC COUNTRYFILE’ FOCUSES IN ON THE DARKNESS OF DUMFRIES AND GALLOWAY

A glimmer in the dark… a flash on the ground… BBC Countryfile presenter ‘Anita Rani’ is on a safari like no other.

Joining wildlife tour guide Keith Kirk at Threave Castle and Nature Reserve, Anita tiptoes into the black of Dumfries and Galloway’s world-renowned dark skies in the hope of spotting some of the wildlife that comes out at night.

Using thermal imagery cameras to pierce through the darkness and bring the landscape to life, Anita and Keith can’t believe their eyes when they start seeing silhouettes of creatures glow all around them. But a close encounter with a darting field mouse, otherwise invisible to the human eye, is the highlight for Anita.

Check out Nocturnal Wildlife Tours Ltd appearing on Countryfile this Sunday at 7pm!

Cowan Scott from the Nocturnal Wildlife team told DGWGO ” It’s all  very exciting, Hopefully it will be great publicity for Dumfries and Galloway!

Keith Kirk, award winning  wildlife photographer who is also part of the Nocturnal wildlife team stated ” We did many hours of filming for what will be 6 minutes of TV so much of the wildlife  we saw won’t be able to be  included.  Many thanks for the National Trust for Scotland Threave Nature Reserve for allowing us access. Fingers crossed it helps get D&G on the map.”
