Castle Douglas Gets Set For Christmas Light Switch On This Saturday

This Saturday 26th of November, Castle Douglas Development Forum are hosting the Christmas Light Switch On at the Wallets Marts, Castle Douglas.

The day will commence at 12pm and it features some fantastic attractions. There will be the usual Producers Market that happens every month, with as many as 50 stalls of local goods. Niko’s and Sulwath bar will also be offering food and drinks throughout the day to make it a real occasion.

For the kids entertainment, there will be a fun fair on and a Santa tractor run, organised by the Stewartry Young farmers. Heart of Galloway are running a ‘Make a Christmas tree decoration’ competition and the winner will be chosen to turn on the lights at 4pm on Saturday. If you wish your child to enter, they must create a decoration and hand it into the Heart of Galloway by 3pm on Friday 25th. There will be prizes for runners up as well as the winner.

Amanda Burney, CDDF event’s organiser says ‘I’m really looking forward to a fun filled family day, with lots of local producers, crafters, and entertainers bringing the community together in the Xmas spirt. There will be music, kids’ entertainment, a food bank drop off and gift table, (for people to donate unwanted gifts and toys) face painting, various hot food vendors, mini funfair, tombola and raffle and it is brilliant that the young farmers have organised the tractor run’.
Beth McKee, CDDF communications officer ‘This is going to be such a fantastic day for Castle Douglas. Amanda and her team have worked hard to make the Christmas light switch on fun for everyone. It’s one of those events where everyone can enjoy it – adults and kids. Events like this bring the community closer as well as attracting visitors to the town. The lights are being switched on at 4pm on the day – make sure you don’t miss it!’
