The Crossmichael Heritage Centre is open in the church hall every Wednesday and Friday afternoon (1.30-4.30pm).
The Hearse Hoose exhibition is open 9-5, every Monday to Saturday. To celebrate the project, a ‘Crossmichael Heritage Open Day’ is being held on the afternoon of 30th July, with a whole range of activities for all ages.
Between 1.30 and 4.30pm on Saturday 30th July, the Heritage Centre (based in the church hall) and the Hearse Hoose will be open and staffed with local volunteers, bringing the information to life! Visitors will also be able to tour the grade-1 listed and truly historic church and graveyard. With a view over to Balmaghie Kirk and the River Dee, the Churchyard has stories to match the view. Visitors might be surprised to hear quite who has a connection to the village! There will be an opportunity to sample the ‘Living History archive’ – a collection of recordings of local residents – and also to enjoy a guided tour of the historic graveyard.
In addition to all of this, church volunteers will be laying on one of their celebrated ‘Crossmichael teas’ for visitors – entirely free (although donations to church funds are appreciated). If you haven’t yet had a ‘Crossmichael Tea’, you are in for something special!
With everything coming together to celebrate Crossmichael’s heritage on the afternoon of the 30th, this is the perfect opportunity to make your visit.

The project was delivered by the Crossmichael Heritage group and volunteers and funded by the Galloway Glens Scheme and the D&G LEADER Programme. Nick Chisholm, Galloway Glens Project Officer, added:
