Drumlanrig Castle Tours Are Back, and Better!

Bonnie Prince Charlie's Bedroom

Drumlanrig Castle looks forward to welcoming visitors back on selected dates in late July and August after missing its visitor season completely in 2020.

‘Exclusive Castle Tours’ will be available from Friday 30th July to the end of August on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. Exclusive Castle Tours are for small family/friend groups of up to 6 people from max 3 households.

For those looking to immerse themselves in the fascinating history, art and architecture of Drumlanrig, it’s the perfect opportunity. Led by passionate experts, the tours are an opportunity to explore the grand reception rooms, magnificent staircases and ornate period features up close. Also as the Castle is home to part of the internationally renowned Buccleuch Art Collection – it’s an opportunity not to be missed.

Claire Oram, Castle Manager explains

“Our Castle Guides cannot wait to welcome visitors back to the Castle and to take them on our new ‘Exclusive Castle Tours.”

“Our regular tours accommodated up to 16 people from anywhere however this is not possible with current government guidelines and we wanted to ensure visitors received the 5-star experience they expect at Drumlanrig. Our Exclusive Tours will do just that. They are for small family/friend groups of up to 6, so are essentially a private tour of the Castle with an experienced guide.”

“We hope these Exclusive Tours will prove to be popular, but with a limited number available we would urge people to book now on our website.”

Tours will be available from Friday 30th July to the end of August on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm. The Tour is costs £36 which includes up to 3 people. An additional 3 visitors can be booked for £12pp. Booking is open now on the Drumlanrig Castle website www.drumlanrigcastle.co.uk. The Castle gift shop will also be open on Castle dates allowing visitors the opportunity to purchase a quality souvenir or gift.

Light refreshments will be available from the Larchwood Cabin next to the Gardens.

Visitors can enjoy the Gardens and Adventure Playground (booking essential), wider walks and trails daily.

The Stableyard area is also worth a visit with a selection of independent crafters and businesses to discover.
