This week’s Newton Stewart Walking Festival has got off to a great start thanks to the glorious summer weather.
The more settled conditions and warmer temperatures that the area has been enjoying over the past few days has meant that hundreds of walkers from both near and far have been enjoying exploring Galloway’s hills, coast and rolling countryside over the weekend.
Joan Mitchell, chair of the group of volunteers who organise the event said: “Despite some blustery conditions on the higher hills, the weather has really helped make this year’s festival very successful so far. The region has been looking its best for our visitors.”
