The First Ever Holly & Ivy Festival at Threave Garden and Estate

The National Trust for Scotland’s Threave Garden and Estate is hosting its first ever Holly and Ivy Festival to mark the start of the festive season.

From 2 – 10 December the beautiful garden is the setting for a series of seasonal events for all the family. Mrs Claus will be making her debut appearance at the garden – a Trust tradition and usually found at Pollok House in Glasgow, this is her first visit to the area.

On 8 December, the Snow Queen will also be popping by for a performance from Folksy Theatre.

Samuel Gallacher, Operations Manager for Dumfries and Galloway said: “We’ve got so much planned for Threave’s first ever Holly and Ivy Festival. We’re looking forward to sharing the festive season with our visitors.”

Threave’s wonderful garden showcases different styles and is a fine example of landscaped beauty. Wander among the rockery, uncover the secret garden and take in the soothing sound of water sculptures.

The wider estate caters for a more adventurous taste and includes our flagship bat reserve.

Take a trail to spot these rare, beautiful creatures in their natural habitat. During summer months (1 April to 31 October), guided tours can be booked in advance and make sure to save time for some freshly baked treats in the main Terrace Cafe or more intimate and quirky Stables Café.
