Kirkcudbright Country Fair Returns This July

Kirkcudbright Country Fair will once again offer a fun packed family weekend including entertainment from Europe’s Premier Outdoor Aerial Stunt Show, RPM bike display team, sheep dog displays, dog agility and loads of FREE children’s entertainment.

Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities are preparing to host a weekend of fantastic family entertainment at The Carse, just outside Kirkcudbright on 16th & 17th July.  After the event was cancelled for three years in  row, the Kirkcudbright Country Fair returns with its best line up yet, offering a fun filled, family friendly weekend packed with entertainment, children’s rides and amusements, stalls, a dog show, food and drink and loads more.

Visitors will be treated to a packed schedule of performances in the main arena throughout the weekend from headline acts including the adrenalin filled Vander Superheroes Space Wheel Show, where the Vander team run, skip, juggle and even go blindfold on the outside of a 15 metre high ‘Wheel of Death’. This brilliant, crowd pulling show has performed all over the world, from Glastonbury to the Bahrain F1 Grand Prix. The Vander Superheroes will be performing two shows each day over the weekend.

The RPM Biketrials Display Team is another internationally acclaimed show that is set to grip the crowds.  Their show involves impressive flips, jumps and tricks; with over 20 years experience performing at some of the world’s biggest shows, including Glastonbury, the RPM team will wow the crowds.

Elaine Hill’s sheepdog displays are a firm family favourite. Elaine has been doing interactive sheepdog displays for 25 years and has a great way of mixing entertainment and imparting knowledge, all whilst the crowd enjoys watching her sheepdogs herd ducks and geese. We’re delighted that STARS Stewartry Dog Agility will be joining us for the weekend.  They will be performing two shows each day and are a fantastic, local addition to the line up.

The event has a huge selection of free children’s entertainment and amusements, in addition to all the entertainment on the main arena.  There will be lots of rides and amusements including a giant inflatable slide, merry-go-round and trampolines.  There’s an art & crafts tent and entertainment from Daffy Dill and her giant bubbles; and Frank the Magician on both days.

On Sunday 17th July there will be a dog show with a range of breed classes including working, gundog, toy and terrier; also fun classes, such as junior handler, judge’s favourite and best rescue. You can register from 9am on the day and the classes will start with the breeds at 11am, with rosettes for the top six in each category.

There will be a large marquee with a range of food, drinks and craft stalls – perfect for a look around and for buying something locally produced.  There will also be an onsite beer tent for adults.

John Blaikie, Convenor of the Country Fair is delighted to be welcoming people back to this popular event; ‘We have waited 3 years to welcome everyone back to what has to be the best family friendly Country Fair. There are going to be thrills and excitement for everyone.
I know I can’t wait to see the Wheel of Death with our super heroes doing death defying stunts.
He went on to list some of the many features of this year’s event ‘There is a mountain bike show three times each day, plenty of food and drink stalls with lots of handmade goodies. When you get hungry there are food vendors and we have a beer tent and the church tent which will be serving tea, coffee and cake. For £6 per ticket, we’re delighted to be able to offer free children’s rides are free, play on the bouncy castles, merry go rounds and  trampolines all day. There are also clowns, magicians and Bubbles. Be sure to keep an eye on the Kirkcudbright Summer Festivities page to find out more and for all the detail and timings. See you there.’
