Latest Update From The Stewartry Young Farmers

Stewartry Young Farmers participated in the D&G Young Farmers Sports Competition on Sunday 11th June at Barony College.

The volleyball and football teams were unlucky, but the girl’s netball team won and went through to West Young Farmers Sports on Sunday 2nd July in East Kilbride. Here, the girls played very well throughout, winning two games and losing two, but ultimately finished unplaced.

On Wednesday 28th June, the club held their Beef & Sheep Stockjudging evening at Barmurrie Farm by kind permission of the Smith Family. David MacTaggart judged the four classes, two of cattle and two of tups. It was great to see a healthy turnout from club members and members of the local community.

Results: Open Class: 1st Jamie Murdoch, 2nd Howard Armstrong, 3rd Rab Young. Club Boys Class: 1st Ewan MacTaggart, 2nd Tom MacTaggart, 3rd Callum Patterson. Club Girls Class: 1st Megan Forsyth, 2nd Katie Sproat, 3rd Carmen Warren. Congratulations to Ewan MacTaggart for winning Overall.

Forthcoming events are Hares and Hounds at Rockcliffe on Sunday 9th July, meeting at the car park at 7pm for 7:30pm start, and a Car Treasure Hunt on Sunday 16th July meeting at the Laurie Arms, Haugh of Urr at 7pm for 7:30pm start, £5 per car. We look forward to seeing you there!
