Local walkers in the New Galloway area are concerned at the devastating damage caused by recent foresty work to a community foot path that goes from New Galloway to Loch Stroan.
Esther Neate contacted DGWGO today and said “The public footpath recently funded by locals; that goes from New Galloway to loch stroan is impassable due to forestry works. You can get to Kristen’s bridge but after that that path has been totally trashed by forestry vehicles.”
DGWGO replied – “Thank you, I am very sure it will have to be reinstated once the work is completed, have you contacted the woodland owners about the matter?”
Esther replied “I hope so. But the damage is very extensive and locals and visitors need to know this is no longer passable. Even if the woodlands owners fix it, it will be months or years until it will be suitable for walkers. After all the effort and funding from the local community its a real shame.”
