To celebrate the arrival of the Kelpie Maquettes as they arrive in the Dumfries and Galloway harbour town of Kirkcudbright for a month as part of the 2016 Kirkcudbright Arts and Crafts trail, DGWGO want you to share your ‘Kelpie Selfies’ with us by either posting them on our Social media for us to share or by adding the hashtag #DGkelfie with your images when you share them on your own social media.
The 12 ft high Kelpies will be on loan to Kirkcudbright Art and Crafts Trail from the 25th July until the 29th August and they are fast becoming an international Scottish icon, with appearances in New York, Chigago and at the prestigious Ryder Cup. The Maquettes have been helping to shine a light on Scotland in general and their home town of Falkirk in particular since they were created in 2014. The Maquettes are a miniature version of the world famous Kelpies which are the 100 foot high horse heads situated in the Helix regeneration park between Falkirk and Grangemouth.
RB founder of DGWGO Said ” The arrival of the Kelpies to Kirkcudbright is fantastic news for the region, they are sure to be a huge attraction for visitors and locals alike, and for a bit of fun and to help get our region on the map, we thought it might be nice for folk to share their ‘Kelpie Selfies’ with us, so we can show the world how wonderful Dumfries and Galloway is. ”
He went on to say ” All folk have to do is either post their Kirkcudbright Kelpe Selfies onto our Facebbook page or Twitter page for us to share, or they can add the hashtag #DGkelfie. and help us try to get it trending. ”
