Visitors are welcomed to Valentines Stargazing Spectacular

Romance is definitely in the air, and indeed the whole universe, as the planets of love make an appearance during a Special Stargazing Valentines Weekend Break on offer at one of Dumfries and Galloways most unique, luxury hotels.

Privately owned Knockinaam Lodge, which sits exclusively by its own beach in a glorious part of South West of Scotland, invites couples to indulge in a weekend of romance as Mars and Venus become clearly visible in the early evening’s sky.

The region of Dumfries & Galloway is home to the UK’s first Dark Sky Park and a dedicated Dark Sky Ranger will present an informative evening of ethereal delight at the award winning hotel, recognised as one of Scotland’s most exquisite, fine dining establishments.

Guests will learn about three love-ly aspects of the night time sky including the positioning of Mars, representing the Roman God of War, and Venus, representing the Roman God of love, both parents of Cupid – the God of Desire. The Moon is also set to make a dramatic appearance by flooding its light across the whole night’s sky whilst the Dark Sky Ranger regales romantic stories of  Greek hero, Perseus and his love interest, Andromeda whose star constellations will be identified in the world above.

The Special Break is available on Friday 10 and Saturday 11 February offering guests two nights stay inclusive of a five course dinner and full Scottish breakfast, a glass of Rose champagne on arrival and a mini hamper of romantic goodies with prices starting from £530 for two people sharing.

Valentines two night packages are also available at Knockinaam Lodge on any nights between 12-16 February, and include dinner, bed and breakfast, a glass of Rose Champagne on arrival and a mini hamper. The luxury packages start from £500, based on two people sharing during this time. For those looking for even more privacy then Shingle Lodge, a beautiful cedar clad luxury self-catering cottage, is located just metres from the hotel next to the sea and can be hired for £500 for a short break and £1000 for the full week.
