The Winter Kist – Festive Shopping Under Wigtown’s Christmas Lights

Wigtown Festival Company are delighted to see the return of The Winter Kist to Wigtown on 4 December. This year’s event will have a different feel, taking place outdoors in the Louis McGuffie Memorial Gardens and bringing visitors a unique shopping experience under the town’s Christmas Lights.

Kist is the Scottish word for a traditional wooden chest for storing treasures, and The Winter Kist offers the perfect place to find unique Christmas gifts for family and friends and maybe a treat or two for yourself. Over 25 artisanal producers and makers have been selected to showcase the best of local and regional art, craft, food and drink, and organisers are delighted to present such an array of diverse and high-quality stalls from across Dumfries and Galloway. Gifts range from clocks to ceramics, fairies to feltwork and paintings to pies – you won’t leave empty handed. Visitors could also win a £50 cash prize in a Lucky Squares competition. Even if the weather is chilly, you’ll be assured of a warm welcome and friendly atmosphere. Entry is free.

Santa has taken time out of his busy schedule to come along to the event and can be found in his Grotto in the gardens. There will also be some festive music from The Lowland Lassies during the afternoon.

Many of the town’s shops, bookshops and cafés will be staying open until late with evening meals and take-aways on offer. So why not come along and enjoy a festive shopping experience in Wigtown’s Winter Wonderland?
