Woodland owners, managers and caretakers are being urged not to miss the boat as the application deadline approaches for the 2016 Scotland’s Finest Woods Awards.
With applications accepted up until 31 March, organizers Scotland’s Finest Woods are reminding businesses, schools, land owners, foresters , communities and individuals that their wood could be a winner.
The Awards are an annual recognition and celebration of those who use, promote, own or manage Scotland’s woods and forests to deliver economic, environmental and social benefits.
Angela Douglas, Executive Director of Scotland’s Finest Woods, said:
“We, at Scotland’s Finest Woods, want to recognise the very best of Scotland’s woods and all they can offer, whether it’s amazing projects being carried out by schools, communities and even individuals, or exemplary silvicultural practice within the forest industry.
“We thrive on finding and celebrating the best examples of all the hard work that goes on, often away from public gaze and often over many years, to develop Scottish forestry and I am delighted that those involved have the opportunity to become a winner of a Finest Woods Award.
“There are several trophies and a total of £7,000 of prize money to be won so grab a short and simple application form and put your woodland forward before it’s too late!”
There are four category awards – featuring seven competitions – that include industry focused awards, new native woods award and awards for schools and for community woodlands.
