Barony Engineering Students Refurbish Massey Ferguson 135 Tractor

Students Max Messenger, Lewis Dempster, Callum Harvey and Cairn Johnstone stand next to a Massey Ferguson 135 tractor which they helped refurbish for use in the agricultural and engineering departments at Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC).

The students are doing an NC Introduction to Land-based Engineering course at SRUC’s Barony campus in Dumfries and Galloway.

They started work on the tractor in September and worked on it twice a week, stripping down all the components, doing work on the brakes, steering, electrics and lights, fitting new tyres and preparing panels for spraying.

SRUC Barony is holding a series of virtual open days next week (from 21-25 February).
