Anderson And Pickard Says Goodbye To Palmerston

Queen of The South confirmed Today, January the 2oth 2017  that Jake Pickard and Grant Anderson have both left the  Palmerston Park, Dumfries based club by mutual consent.

The 19 year old midfielder who joined in the Summer of 2013 has taken the decision to pursue a career elsewhere and after speaking to manager Gary Naysmith has secured an early release from his contract.

Grant Anderson has also cancelled his contract by mutual consent and left the club. In his short spell at Palmerston he started 26 games and was a used substitute a further 3 times. He scored 3 goals, including most memorably the header to put us 2-1 up at Easter Road in the BetFred Cup.  The Club wish him the best of luck in his future career.

Gary Naysmith also thanked Jake and added “he came to me during the week and indicated that after being at the club for three years he felt that it was time for him to move on.  He is a young player so when they come to you with the request it would be unfair to stand in their way.  Jake has now had his contract terminated early and we wish him all the best for the future“.

Scott Hooper has been  informed that he is free to find another club.  Gary added “It’s one of the hardest parts of being a manager when you have to tell players their services are no longer required.  But as we build for the future neither Grant or Scott feature in my long term plans and therefore it’s only fair that when the transfer window is open for business that we let them look at other opportunities.  We will support them as much as we can and help them find other clubs.  Once again they will move on with our best wishes”.
