First Ever ‘Cocoa Bean Cup’ Schools Kwik Cricket Festival Held At Galloway Cricket Club

On Monday 22nd June Galloway Cricket Club ran the first ever “Cocoa Bean Cup” kwik cricket tournament at their ground in the Cally Woods at Gatehouse of Fleet.1 a 1 a Kwik cricket

All surrounding schools were invited to attend following cricket sessions which the club has been delivering during school time during the past term. Eight teams entered and all played 3 games each to establish the two top teams who then battled it out in an exciting final while the rest of the teams played for the other places.

A special prize was also given to the team who put in most effort and showed a sporting attitude throughout the day – this was won by “Batting Fever” from Creetown Primary School who have only been playing cricket for 3 weeks! We would also like to thank the “Stump Smashers” from Gelston Primary as well as the three other Gatehouse Primary teams; “the Gulls”, “the Geese” and “the Goats” for taking part.

The club would like to thank all the volunteers who made the day possible, all the schools for supporting the delivery of cricket sessions, the teachers and parents who brought all the kids along and especially to the Cocoa Bean Company for generously sponsoring the event. A brilliant afternoon of cricket was had by everyone who was there and the sun shone which made it even more enjoyable.
We hope to see lots of these young cricketers at our summer cricket camps being run throughout the school holidays:
Monday 6th and Tuesday 7th July, Thurs 30th and Friday 31st July and Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th August (all 10am – 3pm and open to P4+ £10 per day)
Kids cricket training takes place every Monday 3.30-5pm at the ground in Gatehouse and costs £2 (this runs during term time and throughout the summer holidays)
